At Saint-André-les-Alpes, the Verdon transforms into a lake. This village, which is at the cusp of Alpine and Provençal influences, is internationally renowned for paragliding.

From Saint-André-les-Alpes head to Barrêmealong the historical Route Napoléon! Napoléon stopped here on Friday 3rd March 1815. Whilst you’re in town come and learn about the famous Emperor!

Join the Verdon river again at Castillonlake, which connects Saint-André-les-Alpes to Castellane. This lake turns emerald green towards the end of spring.

Castellane – a remarkable village and the gateway to the Gorges du Verdon – is sure to impress with its ‘dolce vita’ ambiance.

You will no doubt be captivated by the very special Gorges du Verdon, which will lead you to La Palud-sur-Verdon, a mecca for rockclimbing. The ‘route des crêtes’ then guides you through the vertiginous Grand Canyon.

Towards the east, bordering the Verdon and surrounding Nice area, the classified medieval village of Annot will blow you away: an exceptional natural heritage site with overhanging rocks, cliffs and sandstone bouldersperfect for walking, ambling and stirringthe imagination.
