Verdon Gorge

The emblematic viewpoint of the Verdon Gorges, the Point Sublime offers one of the most striking views of Europe's largest canyon.

Blanc-Martel trail

A legendary 16 km route at the bottom of the Verdon Gorges, the Blanc-Martel trail links the Chalet de la Maline to the Point Sublime in about 6 hours. This historic crossing, opened by Édouard-Alfred Martel in 1905, alternates airy sections, metal ladders, tunnels, breaches and pebble beaches along the Verdon.

The Route des Crêtes

A panoramic route listed among the most beautiful roads in France, the Route des Crêtes winds for 23 km in a loop starting from La Palud-sur-Verdon. Its 14 viewpoints offer plunging views over the Verdon Gorges.

Castillon and Sainte-Croix lakes

Nestled between Saint-André-les-Alpes and Castellane, Lac de Castillon is the Verdon's large upstream reservoir. Its turquoise waters are an ideal playground for swimming, sailing, paddleboarding, pedal boats and fishing. Its beaches, equipped and supervised in season, are among the most popular family spots.

Pignes steam train

The Train des Pignes steam train runs from May to October between Puget-Théniers and Annot, on the historic line linking Nice to Digne-les-Bains. Pulled by a century-old steam locomotive, this heritage train crosses the Verdon's most spectacular landscapes.

Cascade de la Lance

Reached by a waymarked path of about 1 hour from Colmars-les-Alpes, the Cascade de la Lance is one of the most popular family walks in the Haut-Verdon. Fed by the waters of the Lance torrent, the waterfall tumbles over the rocks in a setting of larches and broadleaf trees.

Annot Sandstone

A unique geological site, the Annot sandstones overlook the village that gave them their name. Formed 35 million years ago, then shaped by erosion over millennia, they now form a boulder field of unusual and mysterious shapes, in a chestnut forest.

The vultures

Gone from the Verdon at the beginning of the 20th century, griffon, cinereous and Egyptian vultures were successfully reintroduced in the 1990s by the LPO (French bird protection league) and the Verdon Regional Nature Park.

The Route Napoléon

Listed as a European Route, the Route Napoléon follows the path taken by the Emperor in March 1815 on his return from Elba. In the Verdon, the route passes through La Garde, Castellane, Senez and Barrême before reaching Digne-les-Bains.

Daluis gorges

Nicknamed the « Colorado niçois » for their red pelite cliffs, the Gorges de Daluis offer a rare geological spectacle at the eastern gateway to the Verdon.

Lake Allos

Europe's largest natural high-altitude lake. Nestled in the heart of the Mercantour National Park, in the Haut-Verdon, it covers 60 hectares at the foot of Mont Pelat.
