Arts and crafts

Potters, ceramicists, jewellers, painters, photographers and candle makers based in the heart of the villages. Step into their workshop-galleries and leave with a unique piece, made on the spot.

Transhumance

Discover the terroir - Transhumance - A thousand-year-old pastoral tradition still alive in the Verdon, transhumance sets the rhythm of the area's calendar every year. In spring, the flocks leave the plains and lower Provence for the high mountain pastures of the Haut-Verdon; in autumn, they come back down to their winter quarters. Shepherds, patou dogs, ewes, sheep and goats travel hundreds of kilometres. The transhumance festivals held in Riez or Barrême celebrate this practice, listed in France's inventory of intangible cultural heritage.

Olive trees

Discover the terroir - Olive trees - Grown since Antiquity on the sunny slopes of the Verdon, olive trees are an integral part of the landscape and of the area's Provençal identity.
