Former site of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, the Mont-Chiran Observatory, located at 1 905 m, welcomes hikers and those curious about the sky for an unforgettable night under the stars of the Verdon!
In addition to exceptional views of the stars, you will find an orientation table on site.
A breathtaking panorama awaits you: Ecrins, Mercantour, Provence and the Mediterranean. Meals and overnight stay at the refuge in dormitories for 4. There are 16 places. Please note that we do not have a water source, so water is limited, you will not be able to take a shower and the toilets are dry.
In the evening, an astronomer will show you the sky through a telescope under the dome of the observatory. We recommend that you bring very warm clothing, as the climate at this altitude is mountainous!
After spending the night at the refuge, you can enjoy breakfast with a panoramic view…
