The trail runs along the river, offering a beautiful view of the mountains before entering a forest scented with moss and lichen. Large sandstone boulders, carved by the torrent, dot the landscape. The entrance to the rocky cirque is impressive—it’s amineral world par excellence, where the sun is not welcome. You might want to bring a light jacket!
This is the kingdom of the tichodrome échelette. Stand still and pay close attention as you watch this funny little grey bird with its mottled tail and thin, curved beak hanging on the wall and concentrating on tracking insects. It opens its wings spasmodically, displaying a beautiful pinkish-red and brown color.
The waterfall is a must-see in the upper Verdon Valley. In the spring, it reveals its full power as the snow melts; in the summer, it offers a refreshing respite; and in the fall, its serene setting is adorned with shimmering golden hues.

On hot summer days, take the opportunity to soak your feet. Descending “on sight” to the water’s edge below the cascade. The water is cool and it’s a great place to relax and improvise a picnic.
The trail is not wheelchair accessible, but you can do it with a joëlette if there are enough of you to take turns.

An easy walk starting from the Tourist Information Center reception desk to Colmars-les-Alpes.
For toddlers, you’ll need a baby carrier, as access with a baby carriage is not practical. Be careful on the last stretch, as the path is a little narrow and steep, and the overhanging footbridge means you have to keep your handcuffs on tight!
