Une ambiance provençale dans le verdon

Provencal atmosphere

On the lower slopes, century-old olive trees sit enthroned on their dry-stone terraces. You’ll come across herds of cattle passing through our villages on their way to summer pastures. In summer, lavender colors the landscape of the Middle Verdon.

Authentic villages

Tall houses enclosed by ramparts, canal tiles, narrow streets, fountains and washhouses. No doubt about it, you’re in Provence. More mountainous than their plain neighbors, they have managed to retain all their authenticity.

Lavender, transhumance and olive trees

En route to the summer pastures

Breeding is part of our identity and a heritage of which we are proud. The tradition of transhumance on foot still lives on between Provence, the Gorges du Verdon and the Mercantour mountains.

Lavender, the blue gold of Provence

As July approaches, you’ll see blue-mauve spots gradually announcing its flowering. Once found in the wild in our mountains, fine lavender is still grown around Saint André les Alpes.

Olive trees in terraces

A symbol of Provence, the olive tree can be found at the gateway to the Verdon, near Entrevaux. Grown in terraces on the slopes of the town, the olive tree is an integral part of the village landscape.
